You’ve all played a part in saving my life and I thank all of you.

After years of suffering with various debilitating psychological and physical problems, I finally self-diagnosed Celiac disease. With the help of my chiropractor, we started putting a recovery plan in place. I followed the plan as if my life depended on it – which it did! I experienced a vast improvement and yet, I knew that I should be feeling much better than I was.

Although my progress did not regress to its original state, I knew something else was wrong and agreed to have a blood panel done. That blood panel revealed that I have hemochromatosis. A very common genetic disorder affecting mostly Caucasian people of Northern European descent. It is not uncommon to have the genes for both Celiac Disease and Hemochromatosis. I’ve included these web address below to explain more about this little known hereditary condition and of course, once you Google Hemochromatosis, a whole world of information becomes available to you.

It is not uncommon for Hemochromatosis to ravage someone’s body and go undetected throughout their lifetime, only to be diagnosed at the autopsy. They call that person the “sacrificial sibling” because afterwards, the entire family gets tested and lives are saved.

Based on statistics alone, there are many people in this community continuing to suffer from various symptoms of digestive, thyroid and other metabolic disorders that are directly related to this condition and no matter what healing strategies they employ, the excess iron in their systems is negating all their efforts. Before this diagnosis, it was almost impossible for me to heal my gut and bring back the bacterial/yeast balance because excess iron is detrimental to the host and advantageous for bacteria and yeast.

I can tell you that after more than six decades of suffering I am finally on the road to recovery due to living the SCD lifestyle and a simple blood test for iron.
